Which is better for a wedding, a restroom trailer or a porta potty?
A restroom trailer is better for a wedding when you have a standard 110V outlet nearby, room for a 10 x 7 foot trailer plus its tongue, and a budget starting near $1,500. Porta potties are better when power is far away, the venue is a backyard or field, or the budget is tight.

What does a restroom trailer need at a wedding venue?
A restroom trailer needs a standard 110V outlet, a firm and level spot about 10 x 7 feet plus the tongue, and a clear path for the truck to tow it in. Some trailers also need a water hookup. Check these 4 things with your venue before you book a trailer.
- Power. A standard 110V outlet within reach of the trailer. Ask the venue where the closest one is.
- Water. A garden hose spigot, if your trailer model needs one. We confirm this on your quote.
- Space. Level ground about 10 x 7 feet, plus room for the tongue and truck.
- Access. No low branches, tight gates or soft lawn on the tow path.
Trailers have flushing toilets, sinks, mirrors, lights and A/C. In a Houston summer, that A/C matters for guests in suits and long dresses.

How many restrooms does a wedding need?
A 150-guest wedding running 6 hours with a bar needs 5 standard units: 4 from our chart plus 1 for alcohol. A 2-stall trailer gives 2 toilets at a time, so large guest lists often pair a trailer with standard units, or step up to a 3- or 4-stall trailer.
| Guests | 4 hours | 6 hours | 8 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 3 | 4 | 4 |
| 150 | 4 | 5 | 7 |
| 200 | 5 | 7 | 8 |
Count guests, vendors and staff together. The full chart is in our porta potty sizing guide, or call and we will match stalls to your guest list.
What does each wedding restroom setup cost?
For a 150-guest, 6-hour wedding with a bar, 5 standard units start at about $875–$1,245. Five deluxe flushing units start at about $1,745–$2,375. A 2-stall restroom trailer starts at about $1,500 per weekend. None of these wedding figures include the 8.25% sales tax.
| Setup | Math | Starting estimate |
|---|---|---|
| 5 standard units + 2 hand washing stations | 5 × $175–$249 + 2 × $150–$225 | About $1,175–$1,695 |
| 5 deluxe flushing units | 5 × $349–$475 | About $1,745–$2,375 |
| 2-stall trailer + 2 standard units | $1,500 + 2 × $175–$249 | About $1,850–$1,998 |
The deluxe flushing unit is the middle option: a real sink and flush, with no outlet needed.
Do wedding guests in wheelchairs need a separate unit?
Wedding guests who use wheelchairs usually need a separate wheelchair-accessible (ADA-style) unit, because most restroom trailers have steps at the door. An accessible unit has a ground-level floor, grab bars and a 60-inch diameter turning space. Public events need at least 1 accessible unit per cluster.
Private weddings are not bound by the public-event count, but older relatives may need one. Read the accessible unit rules on the U.S. Access Board's ADA Standards, and see our wheelchair-accessible unit page.

When should you book wedding restrooms?
Book wedding restrooms as soon as your venue and guest count are set, and confirm trailers early so we have time to check power and access. A Saturday wedding normally gets a Friday drop and a Monday pickup, with no charge for the extra days. Plans change? Cancel more than 24 hours ahead at no cost.
Plan the drop-off with your venue coordinator. Our wedding restroom rentals page covers placement near the reception.
