Why do homeowners rent a porta potty?

Homeowners rent a porta potty for 5 main reasons: a bathroom remodel, a broken toilet or septic failure, a water shutoff, a new home waiting on its water meter, or a backyard party. In each case, the home bathroom is gone or not enough, and one serviced unit fills the gap.

Some needs are planned for weeks. Others start with a backed-up toilet on a Saturday morning. We handle both, with the same unit and the same itemized quote.

Which setup fits my situation at home?

Most homes need just 1 unit. A remodel or new build usually runs on a 28-day cycle with weekly service. A plumbing emergency often needs same-day delivery for a few days to a week. A backyard party needs about 1 standard unit per 50 guests for 4 hours, delivered clean with no service visit.

Can I get a porta potty today for a plumbing emergency?

Same-day home delivery is possible in most cases. Call by 12 p.m. (noon), Monday through Saturday, for same-day delivery within about 25 miles of Pasadena. Same-day depends on truck availability and may add a rush fee. An afternoon call usually means a drop the next morning. We are closed Sunday, so Saturday noon is the last same-day window.

Drivers run 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. We give a delivery day, not an exact hour. Expect a phone call roughly half an hour before the truck reaches your house.

More on timing is in our same-day porta potty delivery guide.

Driveway or backyard: where should the unit go?

The driveway is the easiest spot for a home porta potty, because our truck can reach it and the ground is level. A backyard works if the gate is at least 48 inches wide, the path is firm, and the unit sits within about 15 feet of where the truck can park for service.

  • Driveway: Set it beside the garage or at the side of the drive, not blocking cars.
  • Backyard: Needs a 48 in+ gate, no steps, and firm, level ground.
  • Side yard: Good for privacy if the truck can get close.
  • Avoid: Low spots that flood, soft lawn after rain, and under low branches.

The street is public right-of-way. At homes, we set the unit on your own property, not the street, unless you have a city permit. To use the street, call the City of Pasadena Permit Department at 713-475-5575 first. See our placement guide for more.

Backyard placement works for parties when the gate is 48 inches or wider.

Do I need to be home when you deliver?

Homeowners do not need to be home for delivery, weekly service or pickup. Set a cone, flag or ribbon in the yard or driveway where you want it. Leave the gate unlocked or give us the gate code. The driver places the unit, and you get a call about 30 minutes before arrival so you know it is coming.

Pickup works the same way. Call when you are done, and we usually pick up within 1–2 business days.

Will my HOA allow a porta potty?

Many HOAs allow a porta potty for a remodel or repair, but rules vary. Check your HOA rules or ask the manager before delivery. Place the unit beside the garage or behind a fence, keep the rental short, and tell close neighbors. A 7-day or longer rental includes weekly service, which keeps it clean.

  • Read the deed restrictions for "temporary structures" or "construction."
  • Send the HOA a short note with dates and the reason.
  • Choose a spot out of view from the street when possible.
  • Face the door away from the neighbor's windows.

How does billing and cleaning work during a remodel?

Remodel rentals bill on a 28-day cycle, not a calendar month. Weekly service is included: pump, clean, sanitize, restock paper and sanitizer, and fresh chemical. Your first cycle also carries the one-time delivery and pickup charge. Billing stops the day you call for pickup, so you never pay past the job.

  1. Call or send a quote form. Give the address and start date.
  2. Mark the spot. Driveway or yard, with a cone or flag.
  3. We deliver. Clean, stocked and ready before demo starts.
  4. Weekly service. We come by once a week; you do not need to be home.
  5. Call for pickup. Billing stops that day.

Home porta potty questions

These home porta potty questions come from homeowners during remodels, emergencies and parties. They cover cost, same-day delivery, HOAs and placement. Call 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, for a live answer, or send the quote form for a reply within 1 business hour.

My only toilet just broke. Can you bring a porta potty today?

Usually, yes. Call by noon Monday–Saturday for same-day within about 25 miles. For a broken toilet, a rush fee of about $75–$150 before tax may be added.

How much is a porta potty for a month while we redo the bathroom?

A standard unit starts from about $199 per 28-day cycle with weekly service. For a bathroom remodel, add a one-time trip charge of about $49–$99 in the first cycle, plus tax.

Our septic backed up on Sunday. What do we do?

We are closed Sunday. Send the online quote form, and call at 7 a.m. Monday so you are first on the board for same-day delivery.

Can the porta john go in my driveway?

Yes, and that is often the best spot. It is level, close to the truck and easy to service. Leave room to get your cars in and out.

My backyard slopes. Can you still put it back there?

Only on a flat, firm patch. A unit on a slope can tip, so we often use a level corner, the driveway or a patio instead. The spot must be within about 15 feet of where the truck parks, and a backyard gate needs a 48-inch opening.

Our new house doesn't have water hooked up yet. Can we rent one until it does?

Yes. Many owners rent a deluxe unit with sink on a 28-day cycle until the meter is set. Call for pickup the day water is on.

Will my neighbors be able to smell it?

Usually not. The tank has deodorizing chemical and weekly service on longer rentals. Shade and a spot away from fences help most.

How much is one porta potty for a backyard birthday party?

A standard event unit starts from about $175–$249 for 1–3 days, with delivery and pickup included inside our Pasadena zone. Tax is extra.

Can I cancel if the plumber fixes it before you get here?

If the plumber fixes things early, cancel more than 24 hours before delivery and pay nothing; a trip fee may apply after that. Call us as soon as you know.

Prices shown are starting estimates before Texas sales tax. Your itemized quote is the final price.
