What makes an industrial restroom rental different from a regular job site?
Industrial restroom rentals serve plant crews of 50 to 500 or more workers on 10- to 12-hour shifts. Unit counts are higher, service runs 2 or 3 times a week instead of once, and every truck visit goes through a gate, a badge check and site safety rules. Planning starts weeks before the first unit arrives.
A house framing crew might need one toilet. A refinery turnaround can bring hundreds of contract workers through one gate for three to six weeks. That scale changes how we count units, plan routes and stage hand wash stations.
Smaller builds and home sites are covered on our construction site toilets page.
How many portable restrooms does a turnaround crew need?
A turnaround crew needs at least the OSHA 1926.51 minimum: 1 seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers, or per 50 workers once the crew reaches 200. Pasadena Porta Potty Rentals recommends 1 standard unit per 10 workers, then adds service visits as shifts get longer. Each standard unit holds 1 seat and 1 urinal.
| Workers on site | OSHA minimum (seat + urinal sets) | Our recommended units | Service for 10–12 hr shifts | Hand wash stations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 2 | 5 | 2x/week | 2 |
| 100 | 3 | 10 | 2x/week | 3 |
| 200 | 4 | 20 | 2x–3x/week | 5 |
| 300 | 6 | 30 | 3x/week | 8 |
| 500 | 10 | 50 | 3x/week | 13 |
Hand wash counts use 1 station per 4 units, our starting point for crews that eat on site. Seven-day schedules and summer heat usually move a site up one service step. The OSHA text is on the OSHA 1926.51 page.

How often should plant restrooms be serviced?
Plant restrooms on 10- to 12-hour shifts usually need service 2 times a week, and 3 times a week once crews work 7 days. Each standard unit holds roughly 200 uses before it needs pumping. Ten workers on long shifts can reach that number in 3 or 4 days, well before a single weekly visit.
We set fixed service days, such as Monday-Thursday or Monday-Wednesday-Friday. We service Monday through Saturday only, so a 7-day crew should plan a Saturday visit to carry the site through Sunday.
- Pump, clean and sanitize every unit on each visit
- Restock toilet paper, sanitizer and hand wash soap and towels
- Refill hand wash fresh water and empty grey water
- Report damaged or tipped units to your site contact
Can your drivers get through plant gates and safety check-in?
Plant gate access works when we know your site rules before the first delivery. Tell us about badging, safety orientation, escort needs, gate hours and required PPE at booking. Our drivers arrive in standard PPE, and we plan service routes around gate check-in times so 2x or 3x weekly visits stay on schedule.
- Share site rules. Send gate address, check-in hours, badge or orientation steps and any PPE beyond the basics, such as FR clothing.
- Name a site contact. One person who can meet the truck, open a laydown yard and sign off on unit spots.
- Mark unit locations. A simple site map with numbered spots keeps every visit fast.
- Confirm service days. We lock in days that avoid shift change and the busiest gate hours.
If your plant requires an escort for every vehicle, plan for that time on each service day. A driver held at the gate can push back the rest of the route.
Why add hand wash stations at a plant site?
Hand wash stations give workers soap and running water, which sanitizer alone cannot match after handling oil, grease or chemicals. Each 2-sink station uses foot pumps, about 34 gallons of fresh water, soap and paper towels. Place stations by break tents and lunch areas, not only beside the toilets.
Every standard unit already has a hand sanitizer dispenser. Stations add real washing for crews who eat on site.

Where does the waste go?
Waste from our units goes only to authorized disposal sites. Texas requires haulers like Timothy Rental Works to be registered sludge transporters under TCEQ rules in 30 TAC Chapter 312, Subchapter G. Plant safety and environmental teams can ask us for hauling details during contractor onboarding.
Learn more on the TCEQ sludge transporter page. We keep waste sealed in the truck tank from your site to the disposal site.
How should we stage units across a large plant?
Large plants work best with clusters of 4 to 10 units placed near each work zone, rather than one long row at the gate. Workers in full PPE will not walk a quarter mile to a toilet. Each cluster needs firm ground within about 15 feet of a truck lane at least 10 feet wide.
- Put a cluster at each laydown yard, break tent and unit block
- Add at least 1 wheelchair-accessible (ADA-style) unit where your site plan calls for one
- Stake or strap units in open areas during storm season
- Keep units clear of hot work zones and vehicle traffic paths
Turnarounds that run past 28 days bill on our standard cycle, explained on the long-term rental page.
What else do plant turnaround crews rent?
Plant teams often need 2 or 3 services together. These pages cover the smaller job site version for builders, hand washing stations for lunch tents and 28-day billing for long jobs, plus 1 guide on keeping units usable in Houston summer heat.

Plant and turnaround restroom questions
Plant managers, safety leads and contractor coordinators ask us these 8 questions most. The answers cover service counts, gate access, invoicing and how fast we can add units during a turnaround. Call (713) 980-2688 with your crew numbers for a site plan.
We have 300 contractors coming for a turnaround. Can you handle that many units?
Yes, with notice. For a crew that size, call 2–3 weeks ahead so we can stage about 30 units, hand wash stations and a 3x weekly service route.
How much does it cost to service the units three times a week?
A standard unit starts at about $199 per 28-day cycle with weekly service included. Extra visits are added per unit, per visit, and listed on your quote. The $199 base is an estimate before tax, and the extra visits are priced by unit count.
Can you add more units halfway through the shutdown?
Yes. Call by noon, Monday–Saturday, and we can often bring extra units the same day if a truck is open. Big add-ons go smoother with a day's notice.
Do your drivers have to go through our safety orientation?
If your site requires it, yes. Tell us at booking and we schedule time for orientation before the first delivery.
Can you invoice our purchase order instead of using a card?
Approved commercial accounts can get invoicing. Send your vendor packet and we will complete it.
Are you registered to haul the waste?
Yes. Waste is hauled under TCEQ sludge transporter rules and taken only to authorized disposal sites.
Do you service on Sundays for our 7-day crew?
No. We run Monday through Saturday. For 7-day crews we schedule a Saturday visit and size the site so units last through Sunday.
Do you have the ones with a sink for the lunch tent?
Yes. Two-sink hand wash stations work best by lunch tents. Deluxe units with a sink inside are another option.
